My name is Jaime Cheuque (37), I am a craftsman in wool (Telar mapuche) and in silver jewelry making (orfebrería mapuche).
I learnt this traditional work from my grandparents who lived in the very South of Chili. There we carried out the complete process of the wool, from shearing, spinning, colouring and weaving in a Telar that we made ourselves from wood taken from the forrest.
At the age of 12, I had the priviledge to learn “orfebrería” with a “retrafe” a mapuche jewellery maker.
In every peace of work that I make I imprint my mapuche cosmoviion that I carry with me up this present days.
